The aromatics are split between its candied-cherry fruit aspects and a meaty and spicy element that recalls peppered beef jerky. The nose is serious and stern, hinting at the dense tannin of the wine. The cool climate, high elevation Coastview site has always produced tight, dark-fruited, and meaty Syrah, and the 60% stem inclusion contributes spice and savouriness to the wine: olive tapenade, peppercorns, bacon. Historically, this wine has always aged well, so don’t be afraid to tuck this away in your cellar for a few years.
